Events can be configured to allocate zero, one, or multiple host seats. A host seat determines whether a host user is provisioned with an environment as part of the event. This article explains how to configure host seat allocation during event setup and management.
Managing host seats
Configuring host seat allocation
When creating an event, you can define whether hosts are provisioned with environments and how many hosts will be participating:
- Navigate to the Events page and click New Event.
- In the Seats section:
- Tick the Allocate Host Seats checkbox to provision environments for hosts, or untick it if host environments are not required.
- Enter the number of hosts and co-hosts who will be teaching in the event.
- Complete the rest of the event setup and click Create.
Note: The event owner (primary host) will automatically be assigned to one of the host seats. Any additional host seats will be created unassigned and can be assigned later through the Manage Seats modal.
Adding or removing host seats
You can modify host seat allocation after the event is created:
- Open the event and click Manage Seats.
- Click Add Seat to assign a new host seat.
- Search for and select a user with the administrator or instructor role.
- To remove a host seat, click the remove icon next to the assigned user.
Zero-host configuration
To configure an event without provisioning host environments:
- When creating the event, untick the Allocate Host Seats checkbox.
- Only participant seats will be provisioned.
- Hosts and co-hosts can still be managed in the Configuration tab with the Add host button.
- Hosts and co-hosts will retain access to the Classroom, but no environment will be created for them.
Tip: Use zero-host configurations when hosts do not require an environment for instruction
Notes and tips
•Host seats are independent of participant seats.
•Hosts added via the Manage Seats modal must have the appropriate role to appear in the search.
