Occasionally there may be issues with RDP or SSH connections in the workspace.
Checking the status of an AWS VM
Use the Status Check troubleshooting tool to help understand the cause of a failed connection to an AWS virtual machine.
In the Heropa workspace, if an AWS VM is disconnected, a 'Status check' button will be visible.
Selecting this will run a backend status check, returning vital information and a console screenshot from the AWS API to assist in understanding why the VM is disconnected.
This includes the following checks:
- Status: This is the running status of the VM. Any status other than 'Running' will prevent a successful connection. If the VM is not running, start the VM manually.
- System Checks: These indicate the health of the operating system, and specifically the health of the AWS Agent. If the checks do not show OK, reboot the VM and check again.
- Instance Checks: These indicate the status of the VM's network. An impaired or failed status indicates the VM does not have a network connection. Check the console screenshot for further information. The VM's operating system might still be booting.
